Official size rule
The passport-style photo should be a clear color image with a plain background. The published page states that the photo should not exceed 45mm in length by 35mm in width, the image file should not exceed 500KB, and the upload format must be JPG or JPEG.
The applicant should face the camera directly, with the full head visible from the top of the hair to the bottom of the chin.

Preparation steps
Use a recent image with natural lighting. Stand or sit in front of a plain background and face the camera directly.
Show the full head from the top of the hair to the bottom of the chin, with both edges of the face visible.
Avoid hats, shadows, busy backgrounds, people behind you, filters, reflections and anything covering facial features.
Compress or resize the image so it stays below 500KB without making the face blurry.
Convert smartphone HEIC or PNG files to JPG or JPEG before uploading them to the visa form.
Review the photo, passport scan and other documents before final submission.
Common upload problem
Common problems include files that are too large, too dark, in the wrong format, taken against a busy background, cropped too tightly, blurred, shadowed or missing a clear full-face view.
Review the file carefully before upload because a weak photo can contribute to rejection or delay.
